Group financial Controller

Job Description

I.        Financial Leadership

1.   To provide accurate, timely and relevant financial information and plans which assist the

Senior Executive of the Company to produce and meet strategic goals

2.   To ensure that the finance function has efficient systems and procedures which satisfy the requirements of the Company and external bodies such as the banks and the Company’s auditors

3.   To ensure that all Group Companies have a secure, trusted and professional financial function

4.   To constantly evaluate the performance of the Company, and Group, and take a lead role in driving change and improvement.

5.   To ensure that all areas of the business are aware of, and aligned to, the Company’s cash

and profit targets and requirements

6.   To play a lead role in Company acquisitions and set up of additional Company divisions, when necessary

7.   To play a vital role in analysing the new setup of business entity and/or expanding the

current entities into different regions and globally when and where necessary.

 

 

II.       Finance Department Responsibilities

8.   Ensure there are procedures in place to deliver a high standard of the following reporting requirements;

a.   Annual budgets

b.   Profit and cash forecasting

c.   Monthly management accounts reporting

d.   Annual Statutory accounts and Group consolidated accounts

e.   Daily, weekly and monthly KPI data

f.    Capital expenditure control

g.   Product margin analysis and reporting

9.   Ensure that all departmental processing is accurate and timely

 

IV. Management responsibilities

 

10. Responsibility for management of the Finance & HR departments

11. Ensure that objectives are set for each department and that regular reviews of progress are carried out to ensure that all objectives are completed successfully.

12. Ensuring that these departments are staffed to the correct level of skill and professionalism

13. To ensure that the Finance & HR departments deliver their functional responsibilities to a high standard

14. Supervise, monitor, Direct and lead the Group HR Manager

 

 

V. Staff Development

 

15. To develop a continuous stream of talent to ensure succession planning throughout the department

16. The lead and mentor skills development of all departmental staff to address the current, and future needs of the business

17. To help and direct the Group HR Manager to identify and develop high potential staff

 

VI. Senior Management responsibilities

18. To contribute to the overall Company performance and strategic direction as a key member of the Senior Management Team

19. To provide direction, advice and guidance for the Senior Management Team

 

VII. Group co-ordination

20. To work closely with Divisional Managers, Company CEO to assure that financial controls of

Group Companies are in place and to the correct standard

21. To ensure that Group financial staff are of the correct calibre to deliver the required standard of reporting and control

 

VIII. Other areas of responsibility

22. The GFC will also be responsible for the following;

a.   The Company insurances

b.   Payroll

c.   Legal matters including contracts and litigation

d.   Tax matters

e.   Treasury management

 

IX.      Experience and skills

a.  At least 5 years’ experience of being the company’s head financial officer, financial controller

b.  Staff management and leadership

c.   Strong knowledge of accounting, finance, HR procedures, investment and laws d.  Strong knowledge of financial systems, tool and analytical skill

e.  Advanced degree in Accounting f.   CPA or CMA preferred

g.  Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

h.  Experience with creating financial statements, chart of accounting

i.    Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process j.    Fluent in English
